It looks like this initiative has been abandoned by the Senate on friday… So we have bought ourselves a little more time before they try again

I think you’re wrong
The vote is still planned during the night between the 20 and 21 decembre!!
The procedure of the vote is an “emergency” one (no discussion between the senat and the parlement) because the french governement had promised one year ago to decide on this point when the american governement came to explain their will that Europe vote a law like the DMCA…

So please phone your deputy or sign the petition or your liberty will be reduced soon!

Yep, turns out I was wrong. The news I saw was about a discussion over the “global licence” that is supposed to include authorizations to use peer-to-peer software (and pay for them) to download music.
